It is not uncommon for individuals, business owners or businesses to find themselves involved in a legal dispute with another party.  Disputes of this nature, such as a breach of contract, fall under what is known as civil litigation and typically involve use of the court system (state or federal), or some means of alternative dispute resolution, for adjudication.  For plaintiff’s involved in a civil litigation matter, the goal is to right the wrong, enforce an agreement or obtain compensation for an injury or wrongdoing.  Defendants in a civil litigation matter will want to aggressively protect their rights in opposing the plaintiff’s claim.
